We’re pleased to welcome champion barista Paul Whitehead as the latest arrival to our team. Paul was crowned UK Latte Art Champion in Exeter earlier this year, qualifying him for the World Latte Art championships.

The UK competition involved making 2 macchiatos in espresso cups, then 2 lattes in tulip glasses and finally 2 signature patterns of the barista’s choice. Paul chose to create a fern rosetta inlaid with a triple tulip – just enough to pip close rival, Maxwell Collona-Dashwood by one point.

In the World Championships, at the SCAE World of Coffee in Maastricht, Paul performed creditably, finishing in the top 20 , but with unfinished business, is set to compete for a place in Vienna 2012.

We’ll be putting Paul to work an exciting new project here at Ristretto and is “excited to be working with a buzzing and progressive team.”
